The shooting of Jurassic World: Dominion resumed last month in England. The production team is all prepared to fight the pandemic with a 107-page safety manual, and they have a production budget of $9 million of safety measures, which include renting the entire hotel for 20 weeks and also acquired 18000 COVID-19 test kits.
According to a report of the New York Times, the production of $200 million is making way for other studios to resume the halted production work of significant projects in the time when it is impossible to film in the United States. Due to this understandably high precaution and secure environment, the A-list cast agreed to come back for the shoot during the pandemic. In an interview with the New York Times, Bryce Dallas Howard, one of the actors of the film, shared that he would return to the shoot after going through all the safety regarding protocol. Few parts of the protocols are dividing the considerable crew of around 750 people into two groups. One group does not need to be on the set during filming, and the other one is Green Zone, the crew who need to interact with the cast while rolling the cameras.
Every member of the green zone will be tested for the COVID-19 test three times a week. And the film sets would be fumigated with an antiviral mist every day before shooting starts. To ensure social distancing of the chairs surrounded by orange cones, the production team also installed a Green Zone named as a “living room”, and before entering and after exiting from the room everyone needed to wash their hands. Even the production has installed 150 hand sanitizer stations for crew and cast.
Another reason Universal has decided to resume the shooting of Jurassic world: Dominion because the filming requires a set and no real locations, and also, the cast is relatively small. Universal is also taking such measures for the significant production of the sequel Avatar in New Zealand, and Marvel is also taking precautions for the shoot of upcoming project Shang-Chi, which is filming in Australia. However, the production houses need to spend a pretty good amount to implement the safety protocols.
After Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Dominion is the next and the final film of the franchise. And the fanbase of Jurassic World is eagerly waiting for the film to release on 11th July 2021. The senior production executive at Universal said that they want to make sure that they are going beyond the national protocols to provide a safe environment. He added that the cost is not their concern anymore; they cared about safety right now. And they are taking direction from their medical team to work on a safe environment effectively.
The crew and cast shared that they feel very right about it, they all have daily conversations with each other, how would they do a scene or sequence safely? And they are not compromising anyone’s health. Trevorrow described the movie as the celebration of everything in the franchise until now.
