of Registry via the Local Group Policy Editor
- Hit the Windows and R combination over the keyboard to launch
the run prompt.
- Afterward, input “gpedit.msc” in it and select the OK button to
invoke the Local Group Policy Editor.
- Now, pick the Yes button when prompted by the UAC.
- Go to the window of User Configuration, and then go to the
following path: User Configuration\ Administrative Templates\ System\
- You should select the “Prevent access to registry editing
tools” option and twice click on it.
- Finally, switch the option from Not Configured to Enabled, then
click on the Yes button.
- Then hit the OK and Apply button to apply the changes, and it
will turn off the Registry for the particular user account.

- Thereafter, input ‘regedit’ in it, and select the OK button to
launch the Registry Editor.
- Then pick the Yes button in the window of User Account Control.
- Once you get to the Current User Hive, go to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
- In case you are unable to see the System key beneath the
Policies section, go to the Policies key and right-click on it.
- After that, select the ‘New’ option and then click on the Key
button.
- Once you reach the System key, reach the right panel, and
right-click on it, then pick the ‘New’ option.
- You should click on the option of ‘DWORD (32-bit) Value.’
- Once you get the newly made value, twice click on it.
- Modify the value data to 2, and Base to Decimal.
- Now, ensure to reboot the PC to save the changes.
Disable Access
of Registry via the Third-Party App
- Open the web browser, and download the app ‘Protect My
Folders.’
- You should install it by following the on-screen steps.
- Launch it and select the option of Lock or Add.
- After that, reach the key of the ‘regedit.exe’ and select the
button of Add: C:\Windows\regedit.exe
- Click on OK.
