According to Wonder Woman: Dead Earth #4, a nuclear apocalypse forced Themyscira’s Diana to act as the champion of humanity once again because she had faith in people once more. Due to this nuclear apocalypse, Diana’s mother Hippolyta and the mutated Amazons wanted to destroy mankind, but Diana, their champion, did not let that happen. However, the conclusion left us with some unanswered questions.
Here we will discuss three questions we still have after Dead
Earth.
Will
The Themysciran Pact Last?
According to the story, Dee, Theyden, and the remnants of Camp
New Hope thought Diana to be their enemy because she was turned towards
humanity. There was a Haedra movement by which Hippolyta could attack them
after Diana towards humanity. But, Diana begged forgiveness, and due to this,
Dee repowered her using Batman’s serum, eventually making Diana Wonder Woman
again. After the war, Dee was convinced that they had to believe in her,
however, the trust cannot be considered to be true in all the cases.
Diana/Wonder Woman was possessed with god-like powers, which was the reason
people felt that she could enslave, abandon, and even betray them. Even though
Wonder Woman asked them to believe in her for the promises she made to them,
Dee was still doubtful.
Where’s
The Other Gauntlet?
Diana told Dee that she found one of her wrist gauntlets, but
she did not know where the other gauntlet is, so Dee could have secret agents
to search for it as a measure to keep the situation under control if Diana
betrays her. They could have asked Diana to wear it so they could have peace of
mind. Wonder Woman might want to hide that gauntlet because she did not want to
be forcefully controlled by it again. Also, people wanted a fully-powered
Wonder Woman for mankind. Cheetah, the best friend of Diana, also ensured her
not to wear it again because she believed in Wonder Woman and considered her
the savior of the planet. However, the state committee and other enemies wanted
the gauntlet because they knew how Wonder Woman killed Superman.
Can
Hippolyta Ever Be Redeemed?
Diana killed the Amazons with the help of Superman’s skeleton,
except her mother Hippolyta, who started walking slowly and with heavy steps
into the ocean in her beast form. Wonder Woman searched Paradise Island for her
mother and also promised Cheetah to help in healing the queen. According to
Wonder Woman: Dead Earth #3, the queen removed Diana’s gauntlets so she could
defend them when the missiles dropped. Diana would keep searching for the
gauntlets because her mother had accepted that she was a monster, whereas
mankind still believed in Wonder Woman as the savior of the planet.
After discussing all the three questions that we still have
after Dead Earth, we have concluded that there are possibilities in the future
of Wonder Women to get the proper answer to them. However, it depends upon the
writers about the perfect continuation in the story of Wonder Woman.
