Working of Windows + Shift + S
If you are at a page or at a video where you can not save that specific moment, then you can use the screenshot to get that particular page or moment for the further use. If you are using Windows 10, then to take a screenshot, you can use the shortcut Windows + Shift + S. To take the screenshot, you have to press all the three keys simultaneously. After that, you will see the overlay with the white or grey color coating. Here, your cursor will change into the plus (+) symbol, and it symbolizes that Capture Mode is switched on. Now, you have to select those areas which you want to copy; this copy area will save in the Clipboard. In case, it is unable to capture the screenshot then you have following options to resolve the issue:
- Enable the History toggle of Clipboard
- Check the status of Sketch and Snip Toggle

Enable the History Toggle Button of Clipboard
- Press on Start.
- Now, choose Settings.
- Now, tap on the tile of the System.
- Enter in the Sound section.
- Now, scroll down and search for the Clipboard.
- Now, see whether the toggle button of Clipboard History is On or Off, which is on the right pane.
- If it is Off, then click on it to switch it On.
Check the Status of Snip and Sketch Toggle button
- Click on Start.
- Now, click on the Settings.
- Now, tap on the tile of the System.
- Go to Notification and Action.
- Check the toggle button of Snip, and Sketch is on or off (It should be on to take the screenshot).
Reset the Snip and Sketch Tool
If you are unable to switch on the toggle button of the Snip and Sketch tool, then to switch it on, you have reset the tool to default mode. For that, you should follow these steps:
- Hit Start.
- Now, hit Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Go to the Apps and Features section.
- Now click on the Snip and Sketch.
- Here, you have to find “Advanced Options,” which is located under the name of the tool. Then click on the Advanced options.
- On the right-pane, you can see the Reset button at the bottom. Click on it.
- Then you will get the warning dialogue box, then click on the Ok button.
- Now the check whether the shortcut starts working or not.
Reinstalling the Snip and Sketch
If still, it is not working, then you have only one option left, and that is to reinstallation of the app. If you wish to do that you have to do as follows:
- Click on the Start.
- Now, click on the Settings.
- Enter in Apps section.
- Now, go to Apps and Features.
- Find the Snip and Sketch tool and select it.
- Click on the Uninstall button, and select the Ok button in the warning dialogue box.
- Once the tool is uninstalled, then you have to go to the Microsoft Store.
- You should search for the app and install it.
- Now, you can use the shortcut to take the screenshot.
