Amazon is a platform the majority uses and you should set up the two-factor verification there. This method adds an improved factor to the account login process in Amazon as it generates a unique code. Even if account details are somehow discovered by others, your account will stay protected without the code. Amazon offers user’s two types of two-factor authentication: one is by receiving a text message, and the other is to generate code by authenticator app for you.

Set SMS-based Two-Factor Authentication
If any user wants to receive a text message for codes of two-factor authentication codes, then the user will need an extra phone number or any authentication app to use this method. For this method, Amazon requires a backup authentication method in case the user’s primary method is not accessible.
Follow steps of the process to activate and deactivate of set two-factor authentication for your account:
- Go to Amazon.com and Log In.
- Click on the Account & Lists present on the upper right side of the page.
- Select Your Account.
- Click on the Login & Security Setting option in the section of Setting.
- Find the Two-Step Verification (2SV) Setting section and click on the Edit button next to it.
- Select on Get Started to start the process.
- After getting on the next page, enter your Phone Number and then select Continue.
- Now you have to enter the One Time Password (which you will get in the form of text in your given phone number) and press Continue.
- Read the alternate sign-in method and Click on Got it. Turn on Two-Step Verification.
Note: There is some browser that can take the OTP automatically or ask the user to allow access to do so. This varies browser to browser.
Set up an Authentication App
If users want to get codes generated by any authentication app (user have options like Google authenticator and Authy), then they will have to follow this process. In this method, the user has to give his/her phone number because Amazon needs a backup authentication method in case the user’s first method is inaccessible.
- Go to the Site and Log-in to Amazon account.
- Click on the Account & Lists present on the upper right side of the page.
- Select Your Account
- Click on the Login & Security Setting option in the section of Setting
- Find the Two-Step Verification (2SV) Setting section and click on the Edit button next to it.
- Select on Get Started to start the process.
- Select the Radio button (looks like a circle) situated next to the Authentication app.
- Now scan the shown QR code with the Authenticator App (it should be of the user).
- After scanning, just enter the two-factor authentication code that is generated by the app.
- Click on the Verify OTP and Continue.
- Select Entering a phone Number because now the user has to create a backup method.
- Read the alternate sign-in method and Click on Got it. Turn on Two-Step Verification.
Note: Some devices and browsers may take the OTP automatically or ask the user to allow access to do so. This varies browser to browser.
Disable Two-Factor Authentication
Any point of time any user wants to disable the Two Factor Authentication, then the user has the option to disable it.
- Go to the Site and Log-in to Amazon account.
- Click on the Account & Lists present on the upper right side of the page.
- Select Your Account.
- Click on the Login & Security Setting option in the section of Setting.
- Find the Two-Step Verification (2SV) Setting section and click on the Edit button next to it.
- You will find Disable key just right side of Two-Step Verification. Click on Disable.
- You will see a prompt with the warning, “It is not the most secure decision.” Click on the Disable button.
- The Two-Step Verification is now turned off.
